Kuala Kapuas, August 5, 2025 – PT Telen Orbit Prima (TOP) has constructed the Buhut Jaya Village Dam as a comprehensive solution to ensure sustainable water resource availability. This strategic infrastructure project is designed to support various vital sectors, ranging from agriculture and fisheries to fulfilling household clean water needs.
The dam, with dimensions of 23.5 meters in length, 21.8 meters in width, and 5 meters in height, can hold up to 145,928 cubic meters of water. This substantial capacity is projected to provide direct benefits to approximately 430 households (KK) distributed across RT 1-5 of Buhut Jaya Village.
Beyond functioning as a clean water source, the dam is also designed as a sustainable irrigation system for agricultural land in the area. Although the village's agricultural sector is still in the development stage, the presence of this infrastructure is expected to serve as a catalyst for future agrarian economic growth.
On Tuesday (August 5, 2025), Kapuas Regent H. M. Wiyatno conducted a direct field visit to inspect the Buhut Jaya Village Dam. During the visit, the Regent emphasized the dam's strategic role that extends beyond water supply, namely as an effective flood control system.
"This dam has vital capabilities in containing and regulating water flow from upstream, thus minimizing the risk of water overflow that could potentially threaten agricultural land and residential areas during the rainy season," he explained.
The Kapuas Regent expressed high appreciation for the active participation of Buhut Jaya Village residents who have been consistently involved from the planning stage through to the dam's operation. The community's commitment to preserving the surrounding environment, including efforts to prevent illegal logging, is considered crucial for ensuring the dam's functional sustainability.
"The community's spirit of mutual cooperation and constructive collaboration with TOP constitute the main foundation for this dam to provide cross-generational benefits, even beyond the company's operational period," emphasized Regent Wiyatno.
More than just physical infrastructure, the Regent hopes the Buhut Jaya Dam will become a driver of holistic village development transformation. "We are optimistic that this dam will strengthen regional food security, accelerate local economic growth, while providing security assurance for the community against threats of drought and flooding," he concluded.
