Mantangai, July 12, 2025 — PT Asmin Bara Bronang (ABB) has handed over 2,407 hectares of watershed rehabilitation areas to the government after running the program for a decade in Mantangai District. The program, which began in 2015 in Katunjung Village, now covers three target villages: Katunjung (1,822 Ha), Sei Ahas, and Katimpun.
The Watershed Rehabilitation Program is not solely conducted by the company. ABB involves local communities in all stages of program implementation, from seedling preparation, planting, maintenance, to handover. This provides direct economic impact for local residents.
"This activity is very beneficial for greening the village, preventing fires, and increasing community income," said Jamson, a resident of Katunjung Village. Agus, another resident, added that this program has successfully increased local community income.
Mantangai District Head, Yubderi, appreciated the program that provides environmental, social, and economic impact for the community. "Communities from all three villages are directly involved in activity implementation, from planting to maintenance," he said.
Acting Head of Katunjung Village, Marlina, stated that this activity creates positive synergy and improves the economic welfare of her village residents.
As part of Turangga Resources, ABB is committed to continuing watershed rehabilitation and community empowerment programs. In addition to environmental rehabilitation, the company also runs health programs, social assistance, and stunting prevention through Posyandu GUNTING (Integrated Health Post for Stunting Prevention Movement).
This program aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) principles in improving community quality of life through collaboration between companies, government, and local communities.
