PT Suprabari Mapanindo Mineral (SMM) Supports Strengthening of North Barito MSMEs: Delivers Sewing Machine Assistance for Tailors

North Barito (18/09/2025) - PT Suprabari Mapanindo Mineral (SMM)'s commitment to supporting community economic empowerment was once again realized through the delivery of productive facilities assistance for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in North Barito Regency. At the Office of the Department of Manpower, Transmigration, Cooperatives, and MSMEs (Disnakertranskop UKM) North Barito, SMM provided fifteen sewing machines and two overlock machines.

The handover ceremony took place simply yet meaningfully. Present at the event were SMM management representatives, the Head of Disnakertranskop UKM, community leaders, and MSME beneficiaries. The Head of Disnakertranskop UKM expressed appreciation for the company's support, which is considered consistently present for the community around its operational areas. According to him, this assistance is not merely a handover of goods, but part of a collective effort to build local economic independence. "We warmly welcome SMM's contribution. This assistance is important capital for the community to be more productive, more empowered, and capable of creating new employment opportunities," he stated.

The sewing machine assistance will be distributed to sewing business groups in SMM's Ring I villages: Lemo I, Lemo II, Pendreh, Bintang Ninggi II, Paring Lahung, Kamawen, Beringin Raya, and Datai Nirui. Previously, business groups only had limited machines, making it difficult to increase production. With additional machines, business operators are expected to accept more orders, speed up work, and increase income. Overlock machines will make sewing results neater according to market standards, while sound systems will be utilized for training, bazaars, and promoting MSME products at local events.

The beneficiaries welcomed this assistance with joy. A housewife in Lemo I Village stated that they had only one old sewing machine that was used in turns. "With the new machine, we can accept more orders. My hope is that the business will progress further and can help with the children's school expenses," she said. 

The Head of Disnakertranskop UKM North Barito, Mastur, also assessed that this support accelerates the achievement of local economic development targets. According to him, MSMEs are the backbone of the people's economy, so strengthening production capacity through equipment assistance is highly strategic. "SMM's assistance aligns with our vision to build an advanced and independent North Barito. We hope this synergy continues, not only in the area of equipment but also in training, market access, and business mentoring," he stated.
