SMK Maharati and SMM Plant 160 Trees in Commemoration of Earth Day 2026

Barito Utara, Central Kalimantan (April 25, 2026) – PT Suprabari Mapanindo Mineral (SMM), in collaboration with SMK Maharati, carried out a tree-planting activity to commemorate Earth Day 2026 on Saturday (April 25, 2026). Carrying the theme “Our Power, Our Planet,” the activity involved students of SMK Maharati and SMM employees to raise awareness and foster care for environmental sustainability.

In his remarks, the Principal of SMK Maharati expressed appreciation for the collaboration with PT SMM in supporting environmental education for students.
“Earth is not just a place where we live, but also a valuable legacy that we must preserve for future generations. This tree-planting activity serves as direct learning for students about the importance of environmental conservation,” he said.

SMM’s Head of Mining Engineering, Joko Martoyo, stated that this activity is part of the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship and youth empowerment.
“We hope that through this activity, SMK Maharati students will not only understand the importance of environmental preservation but also be inspired to become agents of change in the future,” he said.

The event continued with a symbolic handover of a plaque and SMM’s K3 (Occupational Health and Safety) mascot to the school, followed by a technical briefing on proper planting methods.

The tree-planting activity included 160 fruit tree seedlings consisting of 30 water apple trees, 30 jackfruit trees, 20 mango trees, 20 cempedak trees, 15 coconut trees, 15 avocado trees, 15 matoa trees, and 15 sapodilla trees. The planting was supported with supplies such as fertilizer, NPK, gloves, and tools including hoes and shovels.

Students enthusiastically participated in the planting activity under the guidance of the SMM team. Each seedling was carefully planted and fertilized to ensure optimal growth. The activity concluded with a gathering session and a group photo in the planting area.

Through this Earth Day 2026 activity, SMM and SMK Maharati reaffirmed their shared commitment to environmental sustainability and to building awareness among the younger generation about the importance of preserving nature. This initiative is expected to become an ongoing program that delivers positive impacts on both the environment and student character development.
