Katunjung (18/11/2025) - The Watershed Rehabilitation Team (DAS) of Turangga Resources partnered with PAUD Katunjung Village, SDN 1 Katunjung, SMPN 1 Atap Mantangai, and Katunjung Village Government in the Environmental Heroes Program, an initiative to instill environmental awareness in young people through a learning-through-play approach.
The program was inspired by the book "Make Your Bed: Little Things That Can Change Life and Maybe The World" by Colonel McRaven, which emphasizes that small habits can create big changes. Starting with gradual education on personal hygiene, school cleanliness, and waste sorting, the program culminated on November 18, 2025, with engaging interactive activities.
Students participated in various educational activities including Classroom Cleanliness Competition, Trash Bin Decoration Competition, and a Treasure Hunt game with challenges at each station. They also received fire extinguishing simulation training led directly by Kapuas Fire Department officers. The Watershed Rehabilitation Team provided educational support packages consisting of school bags, colored pencils, and exam boards to all students.
The program received widespread appreciation from various parties. Mantangai District Head Yubderi, Mantangai Military District Commander represented by Serka Fajar, Acting Katunjung Village Head Marlina, and participating school principals agreed that the program is highly beneficial and hoped it would continue and expand to other villages.
Mantangai Police Chief, Jonika, also gave positive feedback. He stated that this activity is very beneficial as it provides children in preschool, elementary, and junior high school with knowledge about the importance of environmental protection.
"We hope this program continues and can be expanded to other villages in Mantangai District. I hope success will always come to Turangga Resources," he said.
The Turangga Resources Watershed Rehabilitation Team stated, "The Environmental Heroes Program represents our commitment to developing future generations with environmental stewardship values. We hope this program continues to be well-received and creates real impact for students and villages."
